About Us

Lakes PrimeCare was established in 1993 to provide a unique and important service to Rotorua. It is primarily a service for locals and visitors who need to receive urgent medical attention.

Emergency care is always provided at the hospital, and when it isn’t urgent, people should still visit the doctors’ practice they are registered with.

Most doctors’ practices in Rotorua are members of Lakes PrimeCare and provide doctors for the after hours roster. Lakes PrimeCare has its own registered doctor during the day and at all times, a team of registered nurses, nurse practitioners and nurse prescribers ready to help.

I graduated from Wits University Medical School in 1986. After working in various hospitals in South Africa, the UK and Canada, I joined Lakes PrimeCare in 1993. I did post graduate studies in anesthesia and urgent care. I am a fellow of the NZCUC. I enjoy the variety of practice at Lakes PrimeCare and the wide variety of outdoor activities Rotorua has to offer – fishing, farming and tramping.
